Automatic Plaster Coating Production Line

The production of Uniplast fixative adhesive tape rolls is carried out on an automatic coating line of the English company Coating and Laminating Systems LTD with a productivity of up to 28 m per minute. The line is intended for applying an adhesive layer to the base material (fabric, non-woven fabric, film). It consists of a number of sequentially installed nodes: unwinding node No. 1; coating unit; convection-type drying chamber with four zones; cooling and lamination unit; winding unit; unwinding unit No. 2. The automatic coating line has a software control system based on an industrial computer PROVIT-2200. In the appropriate menu of the computer set the necessary technical characteristics of the process. Parameters characterizing the heating process and temperature in the zones of the drying chamber are displayed on the monitor screen. Application of the adhesive coating on the base material on an automatic line is carried out by two methods - direct and transfer. With the direct method, the application of acrylate adhesive is carried out directly on the base material. The transfer method consists in applying glue to the technological substrate (transfer) and duplicating it with the base material after drying.

Our service and customer services

After drying, the adhesive-coated paper tape is fed to the cooling drum of the cooling and lamination unit. When passing the transfer ribbon with an adhesive coating and the base material between the cooling drum and the pinch roller, the adhesive coating is pushed onto the base material (film, non-woven fabric or fabric). Thus, a triple laminate is obtained: the base material, the adhesive layer and transfer. When duplicating, the speed of movement of the base is automatically synchronized with the speed of movement of the ribbon of paper with adhesive coating. A triple laminate is wound on a roller mounted in a winding assembly. Upon reaching the specified footage, the triple laminate roll is removed from the winding unit with a hoist and sent to the cutting and packaging stage. Two process plant operators are serving the automatic coating line. The platform of the first operator is next to the coating unit, and the platform of the second operator is next to the cooling and lamination unit.
On the automatic coating line, not only Fixing Uniplast adhesive tape is produced, but also a triple laminate for other adhesive plasters, including Uniplast Bactericidal and Bactericidal Veropharm adhesive plasters.

Specifications

In the process of duplication, the adhesive coating is pushed from the transfer to the substrate. Siliconized paper is used as the transfer, and the film, fabric or non-woven material can serve as the basis. The roll of transfer paper is put on the shaft, which is placed with a hoist (suspended load-lifting device) in two safe cartridges of the unwinding unit No. 1. The roll is fixed, after which the transfer paper is pulled through a four-zone convection-type drying chamber. When leaving the drying chamber, the end of the transfer paper is fed through the cooling and laminating unit and fixed on the roller of the winding unit. In the unwinding unit No. 2, a roll with a base material is installed. The end of the warp is pulled through the frame of the winding unit and the guide frame. In this case, the material is placed in such a way that when entering the cooling and laminating unit, it is directed with its face toward the adhesive coating. After carrying out all these preparatory measures, the knife is put into the working position in the coating unit. The line is set in motion by pressing the "Start" button on the main control panel.

Tips for our customers

A barrel with acrylate glue is installed in the coating unit. Using the pump, glue from the barrel is fed through a silicone hose onto siliconized paper moving under the knife. When the paper tape moves through the gap between the drum and the knife, acrylate adhesive is carried away by the moving tape. In this case, the excess glue is removed with a knife, as a result of which the paper is covered with an even layer of acrylate glue. The adhesive coated paper tape passes through the drying chamber as the conveyor moves. In each of the four drying zones, hot air heated to a predetermined temperature is directed to the surface of the coated paper. Exhaust air is discharged from the drying chamber using an exhaust fan. Paper moving from unwinding unit No. 1 to the coating unit passes through a control system where its thickness is measured. The second device of the thickness control system is installed at the outlet of the drying chamber, where the thickness of the paper with an adhesive coating is measured. Comparison of the readings of two measurements gives the thickness of the adhesive coating, which the operator can adjust by increasing or decreasing the gap between the knife and the drum.
