Powders obtained by spray drying and combined spray and freeze drying have fundamental differences in particle shape. At the same time, the residual moisture content, surface properties of particles obtained by these two methods were similar. In both cases, the bulkiness was unsatisfactory. Some scientists have also investigated the effect of the drying method on powder friability, which depends on a combination of different factors: size, shape, and surface properties of the particles. The comparison of spray and combined spray and freeze drying methods was carried out in terms of such indicators as: particle size and shape; moisture content, physical and chemical properties; the influence of additives and coatings on the friability of powders.
