Microencapsulation by this method is carried out by the following methods: atomization of particles of the encapsulated substance in the form of an aerosol in the vapors of the encapsulating material with condensation of vapors on the particles; atomization of an emulsion or dispersion of both components; mixing of aerosols of two components capable of polycondensation or polymerization with the formation of a shell around the particles of the encapsulated component.

The main conditions ensuring the efficiency of microencapsulation by aerosol method are as follows: aerosol particles should not be mutually soluble; surface tension at the interface of particles should be minimal; the encapsulated substance should have a higher cohesion energy than the shell material; particles should be close in size.
