The dry granulation process is carried out on special equipment. The combined plant combines the processes of compacting, crushing and separating the resulting granules. The principle of operation of the press-granulator is as follows: rotating in different directions, the rollers grasp the powdery mixture and press it through the holes in the wall of the hollow rollers. Inside the hollow rollers, a knife cuts the resulting pellets.

Technical specifications
The resulting briquettes are crushed using mills, fractionated using sieves and pressed on tablet machines into tablets of a given weight and diameter. It should be noted that dry granulation is used less frequently in tablet manufacturing than wet granulation or direct pressing. The main stages of the dry granulation process are: powder mixing; compacting; grinding; sieving; powdering; blending. Some stages may be omitted. Granulation by briquetting can also be used when the LV has good compressibility and does not require additional particle binding by binders. The number of prescriptions recommending the use of dry binder additives followed by direct pressing has increased significantly.

The most well-known method of dry granulation is the compacting method, which compacts dry powder, giving it the shape of granules under some pressure. Nowadays, using the method of dry granulation, dry binders (e.g. microcrystalline cellulose, polyethylene oxide) are introduced into the composition of the tablet mass, providing under pressure the adhesion of both hydrophilic and hydrophobic particles. The bonding of particles to each other occurs under the influence of forces of different nature. At the first stage molecular, electrostatic, magnetic forces act. Then the formation of bonds between particles takes place, after which capillary forces begin to act.
