Phases of operation of the eccentric press:

Phase I: The upper, lower punch, dispenser are in the home position. The matrix is filled with tablet mass by the dosing unit. The downward stroke of the lower punch is adjustable and its final position determines the dose volume of the tablet mass.

Phase II: The upper punch is lowered and forcefully enters the die opening, compacting the mass until a firm tablet is obtained. Phase III: The upper punch returns to its original position and the lower punch presses the resulting tablet upwards.

Phase IV: The dispenser fills the die with tablet mass; the filled die is displaced during the pressing process. Eccentric tablet machines come in skid and intermediate (shoe) types. Skid machines. In this type of machine, the feed hopper moves during operation on special skids. The tabletting material coming from the feed hopper enters the channel of the matrix attached to the matrix table and bounded from below by the lower punch.

The material funnel is then removed, the upper punch is lowered down, compresses the tablet material and is lifted. The lower punch then rises and pushes the tablet out. By pushing the bottom base of the funnel, it is dumped into the receiver. Slide machines have a number of significant disadvantages. The main one is that pressing is carried out only from one side – from the top and briefly, by the type of impact. The pressing pressure in the tablet is distributed unevenly (the upper half is compacted more), and some powders are poorly pressed due to the short duration of the compression cycle. Such machines are not productive (30-50 tablets per minute).
