For small batch sizes (up to 800 l) and/or frequent product changes, drying and cooling of granulates can also be carried out in a vertical granulator. In wet granulation, the powder is loaded into the granulator, then moistened or sprayed with melt. The tangential forces generated by the Z-shaped rotor blades ensure intensive mixing of the powder and rapid formation of high-density granules when binder solutions are added. A shredder on the side of the vessel prevents the formation of large agglomerates. The mixing and wet granulation processes are combined in this machine. There is repeated grinding and mixing due to centrifugal forces created by the Z-rotor rotating below. The result is uniform, fine granules. The granulate at the output of vertical granulators is characterized by a compact structure with good flowability because the product is mechanically compacted during the process.

The latest achievement of OYSTAR Huttlin is the development of a unique anchor-mixer design “Gentelewing”, thanks to which homogeneous mixing of components is achieved during the mixing process and there are no “dead zones” in the product container. During the wet granulation process, there is no product sticking to the container walls, with the agitator blades acting as scrapers. There is also no risk of cross-contamination of the agitator shaft seal due to the top drive system. The design of the mixer armature ensures that the product is discharged with minimal losses. Technical specifications

The great advantages of the vertical granulator are the gentle drying of the product in a vacuum of up to 10 mbar and the relatively small process space, which is quickly and easily cleaned. An additional air supply via nozzles at the rotor blades significantly accelerates the drying of the particles. The Glatt vertical granulators are available which can be easily integrated into a vertical or horizontal process chain. Loading of the vertical pelletizer can be carried out by means of containers with lifting and conveying devices as well as loading devices or pneumatically by means of vacuum feed systems. To carry out the mixing process, this unit has an innovative mixing device, which achieves a completely new mixing character. The disadvantage of most conventional stirring mechanisms is their geometry, which results in poor mixing of the product at low speeds. In addition, there are many parts of the chamber where the product can stick to the walls and thus fall out of the granulation process and subsequent drying. This innovative design, however, ensures excellent, thorough mixing of the product even at low blade speeds. At the same time, the central cone, the device that provides the gas supply for barbotage, prevents sticking on the walls and the formation of dead zones in the working chamber. As for the pelletizing process, this equipment produces the highest quality pellets thanks to the quality and controlled product mixing and homogeneous atomization of the liquid.
